Disneyland-Grown Up Stuff

Who ever said Disney was for the young?

Throwing out our Model "F- - - the Lines Tour"

We didn't promise perfect grammar (or PG language) in our blog, but we promise to be truthful. Truth be it, we did not go to Disneyland because we were in LA. We went to Disneyland because ESPN happened to be broadcasting NFL live all week at the happiest place on earth. Soooo.....we had to suck it up and we broke a golden Pack Mule Rule "F- - - the line tour" officially was thrown out the window.

All of that aside, we had a BLAST at Disney. 13 fun packed hours worth!

Who ever thought I would be doing crash travel planning on Disneyland? I emailed my “normal” friends who had kids that had been there. I searched other blogs on top secret special passes that get you access to rides faster. I searched, studied, took notes, downloaded the app and got a plan. Holy shit we are going to Disney!

Brett has never had a Disney experience and I haven’t for a long, long time. No boo-hoo for Brett, his parents didn’t deny him the opportunity to go. As a high school student visiting his cousins in Florida, he went fishing instead.

In my Grandparent’s 1985 brown conversion van, my family took an epic 2 week road trip to California when I was in the 7th grade. As a Sophomore I went to Disney World in a greyhound bus with my HS peers and marched with the Band in DisneyWorld. In college my roommate Kami was an intern at WDW, so I did some time with her in the parks.

My Sister Kecia and I back in 1988.

Little did I know that in 2022 my husband and I would be married for nearly 25 years, voluntarily childless and voluntarily going to Disneyland. I couldn't freeking wait. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Rides. Brett love, love, loves everything StarWars. It was a perfect match.

It was so much fun. We played, planed, and toyed with the app for 13 hours while in the park. We put on just over 9 miles. The longest we stood in line was a 15 minute wait. We used the new Genie Pass where you get to reserve timeframes and even get in the line first. It was outstanding. We also used our “golden tickets” (IE lightening lane) powers on 2 rides. If you are willing to pay the fee, you get to the front of the line. The Rembold in me loved the scheming part of figuring Disney out.

Brett found the "Stroller Parking" to be outrageously funny.

TAKE HOME exciting realization is that BRETT likes thrill rides! We are looking forward to taking our Niece and Nephews to a theme park with big rides soon. Who ever knew?? My brother and I complained when we first went to Disney that there wasn't enough big coasters. What brats, hu?

(Incase you are interested what a Disney day costs)

Grand Total for our 13 Hour Day at Disney: $517. USD

Park Ticket for 2 Adults: $164. Each Genie Passes: ($40)

Hop Pass ($60)

Lightening Lane Tickets: $14, Spider Man $40 ROR Star Wars

Uber to and from So Fi Stadium area: ($95. US)

Yes, tall enough. Seeing many kids get measured and holding their breath was awesome.

ESPN game day broadcasting. Dan Orlovsky, Keyshawn Johnson and Mina Kimes. We were able to watch a couple broadcasts live, and get on the Mickey fan screaming shots. The ESPN experience was all we could ask for.

The hosts were all very gracious and visited a lot with the crowd. I was so excited when Brett asked Keyshawn if he wanted to ride the Incredicoaster with him, I put my finger over the lens! Shit. He thanked him for the invite but said he had already been on it.

Things We loved about Disney:

  • BYO Snacks. Good job Walt on allowing guests to bring whatever treats and drinks you want to the park. It was great to be able to pull out lunch when we wanted a quick break from the action and didn't want to stand in line or pay $11 for a corn dog.

  • Hopper Pass (extra $30 USD PP) enabled us to to the Magic Kingdom in the morning and the Adventure Park in the afternoon. Genie Pass- ($20 USD pp) no long wait times

  • Talking to (kind of crazy) Disney “groupies” who do the park all the time. They were all so eager to share their knowledge and top secrets.

  • Getting in on the "rope drop" in the early morning hours. The anticipation was great.

  • Seeing families with kids soak in the highly anticipated experience.

  • All the rides, there really wasn’t a dud the entire day.

  • If you are a Star Wars fan, Disney got this one right.

Thank you Disney for a very fun day. We are thankful for the experience. Thank goodness we had a "recover day" before our next NFL event in LA, we needed it.

Only regret is Brett didn't get to go on the Incredicoaster with Keyshawn.
