We missed Paris the last time we were in the neighborhood
On the last trip to Europe, we drove through Paris France because we didn't have the desire to stop, so we didn't. This time we were pretty sure we were meant to be there. Duh, follow my motto "You are always where you are supposed to be"
After a LONG rainy winter feeling a bit stranded on Roatan island, we were ready for some much-needed travel. We went to Roatan's local thrift shop and got some warm-weather clothes ready for our month-and-a-half Europe whirlwind tour. We booked one-way $115 flights to Brussels, Belgium. (Or so we thought)
Due to a National strike flights were not allowed in so we were routed to Paris. We didn't know this information until after we arrived at our gate ready to board the flight. When we arrived we were still confused and thought we were in Belgium, but it was Paris. We were cool with the idea and ditched the bus ride offer to Belgium. We hooked a ride into the city center with no plans we were off.
Valentine's Day 2019, Brett didn't have it planned but he certainly outdid himself and took me to Paris. That will be a Valentine's surprise that will be hard to top.
It was record-breaking warm temps, so we enjoyed walking the city for two solid days. We will spare you all the usual Paris shots, but we had to post the gratuitous tower photo.
A bit groggy, but we had the city at our fingertips
Like a lot of our arrivals, we had boots on the ground with no place to stay, so we booked a room for 2 nights through booking on the spot. The K+K Hotel Care' Saint Germain des Pre's. We were there so, so early in the morning and had been up all night. They let us go in the basement to shower and ditch our bags so we could hit the streets with fresh pits and minty breath.
We wanted to hit some of the big names including Notre Dame, the Lourve Museum, and some famous neighborhoods before calling it a day. Brett was anxious to try escargot and I just wanted to suck down wine that wasn't the shitty Chilean stuff we had in Roatan. We loved the outdoor cafes that served you drinks with tiny little bites and snacks to go with it.
We loved all the museums but stayed close to this sign. Day Two was filled with over 24miles- on foot. The city gets an A for walkability.
February was Fab in Paris. No lines, moderately warm temps, and we had no plans. We simply put on our very American Asics and plugged in destinations as we walked and walked and walked.
Our Travel Until We Get Tired Europe city tour is off to a smashing start.
We were so happy to be off the rainy island and running about Europe wherever our heart and the cheapest airfare took us. The PMA had a few rules on this EU whirlwind adventure
No Pre-planning or booking rooms before we arrived at a destination
No staying in one city longer than 3 nights
No attachment to a place if the airfare is too expensive
No standing in lines for more than 30 minutes
No expectations or pre-booking allowed
This is trip was one of the most exhilarating, exciting, and exhausting adventure we have ever taken. Come along we have many more cities to share with you.
