Sheboygan Wisconsin
Whistling Straights September 2020 oh wait 2021
Our crew. Team USA hats Brian and Darla (She has been a dear friend of mine since HS) and Brother Chad/Sister in Law Sherry. Lucky that PGA professional Brian had all the swag and wore it well. Brian (now a Pack Mule legend read more if you are interested)
If you enjoy people watching, the Ryder Cup has some of the best around. Crazy spirited fans from all over Europe and the USA make the friendly rivalry entertaining. Red, White and Blue dominated the grounds. It is a feeling I have never experienced.
It looks like we just walked into these seats right? Ya, these Pack Mules weren't fast enough to get them on our own merit. Read about "The Running of the Bulls" at the Ryder Cup. We had NO idea we would be involved in an early morning 1.5 Sprint for the bleacher seats.
Watch this Video of our morning race. Thank God we had speedy friends. I actually think you can see Brian in this video clip.

It was an effort by all three couples that made this bucket list event for the PMA even more of a blast.
Brett's Version of how we actually got to the Ryder Cup:
***Note....explicit language and questionable grammar
Our adventure started in the spring of 2019 when we were informed we had the option to buy 2020 Ryder cup tickets. Not sure how we got that option, just lucky fuckers I guess? It seemed like a “once in a lifetime opportunity” so we went for it. Four general admission tickets for each day of the Ryder cup. Yes.
Well…. who to invite??? Duh, we will invite the Hartman’s (Carmen’s best friend from way back and her husband Brian.) Turns out since Brian is a golf pro in North Myrtle Beach he gets free tickets to PGA events. Lucky bastard.
***Just a side note, they really aren’t the Hartman’s, that is Darla’s maiden name, technically speaking they are the Eckley family.
Who to invite next? The Rembold’s (Chad and Sherry, Carmens brother and his wife). Yes they are in lets book rooms. We are pack mules we got this. Wait, every motel/hotel/holiday inn from Green Bay to Chicago is booked or costs you a first born child. We checked with the Hartman’s and the Rembold’s and they were not willing to give up their first born. (Yet) and we don’t have a first born. Now what…..
Brian to the rescue. On a random Myrtle Beach day Brian is hob knobbing around the club house with the clientele which, unbeknownst to him, soon becomes a Pack Mule legend. He asks one of the clients where he is from. Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Holy shit. Not only is this guy form Sheboygan, his house is less than 3 miles to Whistling Straits (home of the 2020 not 2020 Ryder cup). Through negotiations which did not cost a first born child we procured a house for all of us to stay in for Ryder Cup Week. Let’s go..
Game on. Oh wait. This thing called covid hits, becomes a pandemic, and cancels the world including the Ryder cup 2020.
This a short video provided by Sherry and Chad. A pretty nice summary of the trip. We are seriously thankful for the time with my family and our friends.
Carmen Continues the Story:
One year later we make it there. Brian's accommodation connection pulls through and honors his agreement. We rock the beautiful Sheboygan family home as our landing place. We all pitch in on cooking and enjoy 4 solid days of golf.
Brian even booked some local golf for us to play a round at a local Sheboygan course before the activities started.
We saw so much golf, so many players and so much fun. We will not mention what our crews bar bill at the Ryder Cup. Oh ya, we saved that on what we should have paid for a hotel. (Always a justification, right?)
USA kicks ass with a record scoring. The United States had the youngest team in its history. We regained the Ryder Cup with a 19–9 victory. The largest margin in a Ryder Cup since 1967 and the PMA were able to be there in person and experience all the action.
Grateful for this experience. It exceeded our expectations. Ryder Cup Experience, Check.
