SO many good reasons to visit Oh, Canada

Updated: Sep 30, 2022

Yes, You "Got" Stronger Beer

Living in and growing up in Dakota, actually relatively close to our northern Canadian friendly neighbor, we are a bit embarrassed to say that neither one of us traveled to their wooded beauty until relatively recently, September 2018.

Thanks to our dear friends Bob and Rosalie Boileau of British Columbia, Canada we had the opportunity to stay, explore, enjoy and have one of the best fall vacations ever. It was a unique magical beauty that we have yet to compare.

Some of the best that came out of our Roatan experience

was getting to have Bob and Rosalie as dear friends and part of our story. We aren't even sure when we were first introduction to them because yes, often an alcohol induced haze got you through living on the realities of the island.

We enjoyed lots of Beach Monday's with them, SCUBA diving, shared time with them and their Grandkids who visited the island, Pegs games, endless bottles of shitty white wine, costume parties, and just a lot of hanging out enjoying each others company.

Prior to Roatan, we didn't even really know a lot of Canadians to speak of. We certainly made up for it after we moved. The Canadians kind of ruled the East End on our island. They are not short of opinions and are quick to let you know what "could be improved" with the Red, White and Blue. It was mostly a fun debate and the best way to sum up the argument is this YouTube video. Totally worth your 3 minute watch, seriously this will make you smile.

We love our Canadian neighbors and our differences

Half Moon Bay, BC

Halfmoon Bay is a small community of about 2,800 people, lots of these lucky folks live here only in the summer . It is a large bay protected from the open sea by South Thormanby Island and Vancouver Island.

Photos tell the story of this beautiful, magical place. A portion of the area that makes up Princess Louisa Marine. We spent a few days out on their boat "Salva Vida" (life saver in Spanish AND it is also the National Beer of Honduras) What a cool boat name.

This is the view from Bob and Rosilies's kitchen. Total bliss. They have the most pristine place to call home and they were the most generous and fun hosts. Their cruiser "Salva Vida" down below on their dock. We spent a few nights on her while exploring the great BC. Walking from the house to the dock and back up was a work out.

Rosalie has fantastic taste, and Bob has the skills to make it happen. He is an electrician by trade, but he can do about anything. They are a team like no other. We love being with team driven couples who truly enjoy nothing more than being together.

Princess Lousia Inlet

Bob and Carmen collecting oysters on the banks. Rosalie had a fire roasted oyster recipe with havarti cheese down to a darn right science.

Here we go getting them ready for the open fire. It was like camping but on a very nice houseboat.

It was September, kinda chilly by our standards, but we didn't mind one bit. The sunny Canadian faces kept everything A-OK, Ah?

We are Thankful for the Time we had

Since writing this post, Bob has moved on from this physical world. We are the lucky ones who were able to experience his kindness, humor, and loving soul. We learned a lot of life lessons from him that we have taken on our journey and will continue to do so. Some of these things are like seriously practical, like learning electrical wiring. After a pretty big electrical fire in our Roa house, he redid all of it for us. He was stellar at boating tip and tricks which continue to come in handy. Some more practical lessons like don't grab a crab by the claws. I can hear him now saying "Oh, my god" ........as the crab took over my finger and injured his during the rescue mission.

We really dig it when the enjoyment of whatever activity is with a partner that is really a life mate. B and R had this and they were one heck of a life team. Everyone who had the chance to have Bob in their life was gifted with one special guy who gave so much to you and the world. Thank you Bob for being our friend.

Beach Monday Photo in Roatan. Thank you Bob for experiencing life with us. We loved you, and our time together. You were a gift to the world.
