What is Our Favorite Destination?

Every Place Has Its Joys--and There Are Deal Breakers

Hands down,  this one of the most frequent questions the PMA gets. It is a questions we think about a lot too.

People are always curious where we liked the best. It is a trick question really. “We love them all” is a lame ass answer right? Yes, that is super lame.

There really isn’t a place that we don’t like being in the moment. There are places that overall we like better than others and certainly places that we know other people would like for various reasons.

One of my heart tags that I use frequently is “Every Place Has its Joys”.  No matter where we are at, we always find  certain joys.

Not every place is a home run, and  occasionally  we have deal breakers. Safety is always a deal breaker. If we don’t feel safe it is a no go or get the hell outta there.

We travel differently than the average vacation traveler since the destination for that time is our home. We accept where we have selected and enjoy the experience for the amount of time that we are there. You can easily pick out the crap that is undesirable and annoying, but we tend to focus on the cool stuff, because seriously why not?

Finding our next location or home on the road is always temporary and never forever. We have been in locations where we have extended, and extended and extended. (Tailand, Aruba, Greece) and we have had places that we cut short (Maldives, spots in Panama, Gili Islands) BUT this shortened stay can mean any number of things.

Our timeline for traveling is much longer and super flexible so  therefor our view of a place tends to be different from a hit and run vacation. We don’t necessarily visit a place because it is at the top of our must do list, it often is selected by chance, suggestion or as Brett says “where ever we find a cheep flight.” This method has led us to some pretty cool places we would have never picked out of Rick Steve’s book of Europe.

If a location was 'so much fun' in our past memory (Ireland) we might put it on the go back to list, but normally we are thankful for the experience and ready to find our next first. You can only experience a destination for the first time once. Sometimes this experience is so grandiose in your memory that it may be worth going back. However, sometime that is all it is, a grandiose memory.

So, our favorite place? Sorry we don't have a super cut and dry answer.  Usually it is where we are at in the present moment.
